Direct plug in dangerous The Tripp Lite direct plug in surge protector has a flaw. The plug is attached to the metal box with plastic. It easily loosens from the metal box. I had one that loosened enough that it shorted out, sparks, smoke and all. I am attaching pictures of the shorted out surge protector, what the early stages of a loosening plug looks like and the burn marks on my wall from the short out. Piece of junk, can only be plugged in once I plugged it into the wall, and then unplugged it. The back got ripped off when unplugging, and the wires came out! There was a little piece of plastic holding the plug onto the metal of the case, and I didn’t even have to pull that hard while unplugging it. It took so little effort for it to break that I wonder if it came to be broken already.
