Great Introductory Ice Cream Maker This isn’t a professional grade ice cream maker, but it is a good introduction model for casual use. We’ve had it for 7 months now and use it once or twice a month. It is loud, and you have to plan ahead so that the bowl is completely frozen before you start, but it is a heck of a lot better than the hand crank models I used growing up! Our refurbished model has small a crack on the base, but it doesn’t interfere with the operation of the device, but that is the trade off for a big discount…
I scream for ice cream! This has worked very well for us. The recipe for Mexican chocolate ice cream was a big hit with my family. Frozen yogurt was great and I even over filled it a little and it still turned out fine. I like that it is not a lot of pieces. I thought that one was missing because the top is open (I have never had one of these before, but once I used it, I understood why the top was open.) And I keep my freezer bowl in the deep freeze (at -5) all the time, which I did not ever want to do, but it is not…
but I have a chest freezer so I’m good. However Although marketed as refurbished, I could not tell that the product was not new. It works well, and really does make soft-serve ice cream in 20-30mins, if you start with a chilled mix. The bowl itself has to be frozen for 16-24hrs before making ice cream, which means you have to either plan well in advance, or store it in the freezer all the time. It does take up room, but I have a chest freezer so I’m good. However, think about that before you order.
