Dry fruit, vegetables, and jerky in hours instead of days. The unit’s patented Converga-Flow drying system forces air down the exterior pressurized chamber, then horizontally across each individual tray, converging in the center, for fast, even, and nutritious drying. Flavors don’t mix, and there’s no need to rotate the trays. It’s top-mounted fan eliminates the worry of liquids dripping into the heater chamber, and an opaque Vita-Save exterior helps block harmful lights in order to retain more of the food’s nutrients and vitamins during the drying process. The unit’s adjustable thermostat ranged from 95 degrees to 160 degrees F, providing the flexibility needed to ensure excellent results. It’s a 600 watts unit. Five trays come included, but the unit can be expanded to 12 trays (additional trays sold separately) for drying larger quantities at one time. Accessories include two fruit roll sheets, perfect for drying semi-liquids like soups, sauces, and fruit rolls; two Clean-A-Screen flexible screens, which allow for easy drying of small items such as herbs, spices and potpourri; and three original jerky spice packets for making jerky. A 52-page recipe and instruction book also comes included. With a speckled gray design, the food dehydrator measures approximately 13-inch by 13-inch by 10-inch. FD-75A is Frustration free packaging and FD-75PR is retail packaging.
Nesco Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator FD-75A

A very good product with minor flaws I imported this Nesco 75PR dehydrator to Brazil, so I can tell you how it behaves in very humid climates like we have here, where we get normally 90% air humidity, specially in the summer. I bought a power consumption measuring device to attach between the dehydrator and my power source to check how much power it drains. I guess this data possibly may interest you. Many people say the power consumption is not high, but how high/low it is? I have done some tests and I think I have the answer for different situations. Energy in Brazil is not cheap so this is an important topic for us to discuss. And, of course, nobody likes to shred money and the environment, regardless of energy taxes.
Works great until the trays warp I found the ease of use and the design of the Nesco FD-75A dehydrator to be pretty high. I was able to make a batch of thicker cut jerky after 6-7 hours of use. The temperature setting is easy to use and the top of the machine has common dehydrating temps listed for various items. The folding handle on the top of the machine makes it convenient to open the machine and see what’s going on; it folds down as well.
Great dehydrator but temp is way off… I bought this dehydrator sort of like many people did: after reading the things you can do with it, I got all excited, thinking, “I’m going to dehydrate EVERYTHING and it’s going to be amazing!!!” Of course, in reality that doesn’t really happen. When people say you’ll use it for a while and then it will collect dust, I totally get how that could happen. Fingers crossed, it hasn’t happened to me yet.
